F-1 students should contact ISSO to check their eligibility for CPT approval for an internship.

When seeking an internship, ensure you understand when you will be eligible for CPT and the earliest start date for that semester.

Before you accept an offer, check that you can follow through on your commitment, which includes CPT eligibility.


When ready to request approval, there are two components:

- must meet the internship requirements for the program

- must be eligible for CPT to receive work authorization
