How do I request CPT?

CPT or Curricular Practical Training is an approval issued to F1 students by ISSO after your internship has been approved for course credit

- Request approval for your internship in ORION after accepting the offer

- Wait for an approval email from your program director, then request enrollment in the appropriate internship course

- A request for CPT approval will be sent to ISSO.  Allow 3-5 business days for the processing.

- If approved, ISSO will issue you a new I-20. Be sure to review your I-20 carefully for accuracy PRIOR to your start date. E-mail [email protected] as soon as possible if corrections are necessary.

Notes:

- Check you are eligible for CPT in the semester in which you plan to work  (Ask ISSO)

- If you have not done so already, complete the online CPT workshop.  This is accessed on iComet.

- Understand the JSOM internship policy so that the employer and work meet the requirements for approval

- Receive a detailed job offer from the employer and save the job description you are being hired for

- Your internship activity must be directly related to your field of study.

- Decide how many credit hours you want to be enrolled for.  Remember - you can be enrolled for up to 3 credit hours for your program, and you may want to work for more than one semester.

- Discuss any questions with your program director.
